Medical Students' Rite of Passage

The Class of 2020 at LSU Health New Orleans School of Medicine received their white coats at the 2017 Medicine White Coat Ceremony.

Dr. Fred Lopez, Assistant Dean of Student Affairs, served as Master of Ceremonies. Speakers included Dr. Steve Nelson, Dean; Morgan Laurent, Class of 2019; Dr. George Karam, Professor of Medicine and Nominee for the AAMC Humanism in Medicine Award; Julie Cronan, GHHS President, Class of 2017; and Shaitalya Vellanki, Class of 2020 and Humanism in Medicine Essay Winner.

Dr. Cathy Lazarus, Student Affairs Associate Dean, and Dr. Hamilton Farris, Student Affairs Assistant Dean, conferred the white coats. Coating faculty were Dr. Lisa Campeau, Dr. Robin English, Dr. Paula Gregory, Dr. Bud Landry, Dr. Michael Levitzky, Dr. Robert Maupin, Dr. Patricia Molina and Dr. David Worthylake.

After the coating, the Class of 2020 recited their Oath of Ideals, led by Ashley Duhon, Allison Feibus, Mitchell Guedry, Seth Guilbeau and Walter Guillory.
